DAYCARE PROGRAM

The Daycare Program is offered by Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac School as a service to you and your children. The goal of the Daycare Program is to offer quality supervision by a competent and caring staff in an environment in which the children feel safe and "at home". Each morning and afternoon children are able to participate in a period of free play, homework time, outdoor games, and inside activities to combine a balance of structured and unstructured time.

Program Hours

The Daycare is open on all school days, Monday through Friday, from 6:30am to 8:05am and after school dismissal until 5:30 pm.

AFTER-SCHOOL SPORTS PROGRAM

Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac School offers an after school sports program. This program is sponsored by the school in collaboration with the Home and School Association. The Home and School Association helps underwrite expenses which are not covered by the sports fees. The Home and School Sports representatives work closely with the athletic director and the administration, to organize the program and provide support to the coaches and the team players.

All students (grades 5-8) are encouraged to participate in the following: Flag football, basketball, volleyball for girls, golf, and soccer. Practices are supervised by the coach and are held after school on Monday through Thursday. Parents are provided with schedules of games and are notified of any change in times or practices.

Training clinics for football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and spirit leading may last several days and are held for each sport. The focus of every training clinic is the learning of specific skills and the spirit of fun while being with friends. The final selection of a team will be the byproduct of the clinic, not the goal. The students are encouraged to participate in every clinic for their age level so that they can learn how to play each sport for which a clinic is offered. All students for a particular grade level are encouraged to participate and learn new athletic skills, even if they do not believe they will be selected for the team.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT

Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac School has an active, supervised student government program. The Student Council meets regularly to plan activities and to discuss student problems. Elections are held each spring.

AUDIO/VISUAL TEAM

The school theater is used for a variety of functions throughout the school year. The audio/visual equipment is quite sophisticated and requires the direct participation of small, select groups of sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students. Under the direct supervision of the theater coordinator, these students learn how to operate and control the microphones, lighting, music, and video equipment.

EDUCATIONAL/STUDY TRIPS

Educational trips serve the educational program by taking students to those resources of the community which cannot be brought into the school. We encourage study trips in elementary grades as part of our instructional program, as long as they have some clear educational and/or cultural value. Plays and concerts presented at our school are considered part of the educational enrichment program.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY (NJHS)
